ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENT (Botox / Dysport)

Avoid laying down for four hours post treatment – this particularly relates to not lying on your face (i.e. attending a massage) where your facial muscles are compressed or altered from their normal resting position as this may alter the effect of the product placement. If possible, remain upright for four to six hours post treatment – i.e. sitting, standing and walking as normal.

Please don’t touch the injection sites immediately following treatment – this reduces the risk of infection transmitted from hands or movement of the product into unwanted muscles.

Be gentle when washing your face or applying products for 24 hours following treatment to avoid moving the product.

Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours – this relates to product placement, reducing infection and reducing bruising and bleeding due to increased blood pressure and heart rate when exercising.  It can also negatively impact the efectivenss of treatment results.

Do not use a sauna or spa for 24 hours to avoid infection as well as bleeding and bruising reduction.

Avoid alcohol for 24 hours post treatment – this relates to bleeding and bruising.

Avoid dental work for forty-eight hours afterward to avoid movement of the product into unwanted muscles.

Be aware that it can take up to fourteen days for the full effect of the treatment to take place – the majority of patients will notice a minor change in the strength of their muscles after three days, however the maximum effect occurs at fourteen days and during this time there may be muscle asymmetry which is normal.

Avoid makeup application until the following day.

DERMAL FILLER TREATMENTS

Avoid  touching  the injection sites for twelve hours immediately following treatment – this relates to reducing the risk of infection transmitted from hands.

Please note that our pre-treatment advice was to not have dental treatment (excluding a check up) for four weeks before and after as this can cause signifcant infection due to the bacteria disruption in the mouth.

Avoid domestic flight for 72 hours and international travel for two weeks after treatment. This is to ensure that in the rare case of vascular occlusion or compression or other complication, that care can be organised in a timely manner for you.

No strenuous exercise for 24 hours – this relates to both product placement, reducing infection and reducing bruising and bleeding due to increased blood pressure and heart rate when exercising.

Do not use a sauna or spa for 24 hours – this relates to infection control as well as bleeding and bruising reduction.

Don’t drink alcohol for 24 hours post treatment – this relates to bleeding and bruising and minimising the risk of product interaction.

Avoid pressure on treated areas for the first few nights post treatment. If possible, sleep on your back – this relates to product being placed in precise locations to achieve the desired cosmetic outcome.

Avoid facials, facial waxing, chemical peels, laser/IPL or energy-based treatments and microdermabrasion for two weeks after treatment – this relates to skin trauma and reducing the risk of infection and interaction with product.

Do not massage the treated area unless instructed by your medical professional – this relates to the precise placement of the product as well as reducing the risk of infection through transmission from hands.

It can take up to 2-3 weeks for the filler to settle and it can be common to see and feel small lumps. If you are concerned at all please contact the clinic on 027 274 7070 to discuss this with your nurse who will advise accordingly.

It is essential that you attend your follow up appointments at two weeks and four weeks post your original treatment. This will allow you to discuss your treatment with your Cosmetic Skin Therapies medical professional who can provide advice. It also helps us to ensure the desired results you are looking for are achieved.

Makeup may be worn 24 hours after treatment.

FAQs

How long until I see results?

You will begin to see the results at approximately 6 to 8 weeks post-treatment. You may require additional treatments to achieve your desired outcome as results depend on individual factors such as the condition of the skin prior to treatment, the presence of sun damage, adherence to aftercare, metabolism and lifestyle such as smoking.

What results can I expect from the treatment?

PDO mono threads are used to rejuvenate the skin and stimulate collagen, they do not lift the skin.

How long do results last?

Results typically last up to 12 months. Results improve with time due to collagen stimulation. As per the consent process, results are variable and dependent on multiple client factors, particularly pre-treatment skin condition. Combination treatments with other non-surgical modalities are recommended.

MICRONEEDLING (SKINPEN, CIT)

What to expect:

Mild to moderate redness, pain, bruising and swelling is normal and will resolve in seven to ten days

Avoid sun exposure for 14 days post treatment

Use products high in peptides. As skin needling stimulates the production of collagen, the skin needs higher amounts of collagen than normal to recover optimally. Peptides assist in that process, further aiding in the stimulation of collagen production.

Microneedling offers amazing benefits to getting and keeping your skin beautiful, but like any good skin procedure there are important aftercare instructions that you will need to follow to get the most out of your skincare treatmentt.

Since microneedling creates micro wounds in the skin, patients cannot return to their normal skincare routines right away. In fact, immediately after your treatment, you will look as though you have a mild to moderate sunburn, and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. Keep in mind, these effects are normal and they typically subside within a few hours after treatment, but can take up to 24-48 hours for complete resolution.

Don’t worry: your skin professional will discuss post-procedure skincare following the treatment to help soothe, calm, and protect the skin. Continue to treat the skin gently for three days after microneedling, and you may resume your normal skincare routine after day three post-treatment.

 Additional Microneedling Aftercare Precautions

  1. To ensure the proper healing environment, do NOT use any Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acid, Retinol (Vitamin A), Vitamin C (in a low pH formula) scrubs or anything perceived as “active” skincare for one week post treatment.
  2. Do not use any powered cleansing brushes like Clarisonic for one week post treatment.
  3. Avoid intentional and direct sunlight for 72 hours.
  4. No tanning beds.
  5. Always wear sunscreen.
  6. Do not go swimming for at least 72 hours post-treatment.
  7. Do not exercise or participate in strenuous activity for the first 72 hours post-treatment. Sweating and gym environments in general are harmful and filled with bacteria, which may cause adverse reactions in your skin.

IPL

Intense pulsed light therapy, or PhotoFacial, is a great treatment to help with uneven pigmentation due to sun damage or benign brown spots, redness due to rosacea, uneven texture, large pores, facial vessels, skin tone and laxity. However, in order for your IPL PhotoFacial to yield the best possible results for your skin, you’ll need to make sure you follow important aftercare recommendations. Here are the tips from experienced IPL/PhotoFacial professionals about how to take care of your skin after  your IPL treatment:

Immediately After Treatment

  • Cool compress after your treatment can help with discomfort
  • The night of your treatment, professionals recommend sleeping with an extra pillow under your head to prevent swelling.
  • You can begin washing your face the evening of your treatment. Wash the treated area with a gentle cleanser and warm water (not hot water) twice a day, and pat dry.
  • Make sure you only apply make up after all the redness has subsided from your treatment.
  • Keep in mind that having a mild sunburn sensation is normal for the first couple of hours after treatment, but some people report having this feeling for as long as a couple of days post treatment.

Your skin can feel drier than usual following treatment, and it’s not uncommon to have some redness/irritation afterward. Keeping your skin well hydrated will help to prevent any itching caused by dryness. While many think that hydrating the skin will prolong the shedding process, that is not the case. You want to keep the skin as hydrated as possible, since the more hydrated the skin the quicker the skin will heal, and thus purging the dark spots.

Avoid exfoliation for one week post-IPL (which includes scrubs, acids, retinols/vitamin A, and powered cleansing brushes). IPL causes the brown spots/sun damage to darken, and they will become crusty and flake off on their own. If you pick or exfoliate these darkened areas before they are ready to come off, you run the risk of hypopigmentation. The darkened areas on the face will typically shed in about seven to ten days, but the body does take much longer to purge these dark spots–as long as four to six weeks.

  • DON’T scratch or pick the darkened areas

This is always tempting, but you risk hypopigmentation if you try to pick at the darkened areas too soon.

  • DON’T take super hot showers or baths for 48-hours after treatment.
  • DON’T expose yourself to the sun without protection for at least 4-6 weeks, although we would recommend trying to stay protected in the sun all the time, since you have just spent the money to have your brown spots removed.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact the clinic on 027 274 7070
