How does Sculptra work?

Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible and biodegradable substance that has been used in medicine for many years.

Once injected into carefully selected areas, PLLA stimulates your skin to produce new collagen. The Sculptra itself is gradually broken down by the body, while the newly produced collagen helps improve structure, firmness and volume over time.

Because this process happens gradually, results develop over the weeks and months following treatment rather than appearing immediately.

What can Sculptra improve?

Rather than filling individual lines, Sculptra is used as part of a broader approach to improving facial structure and supporting the changes that occur as collagen naturally declines with age.

How many treatments will I need?

Your treatment plan is completely individual.

An initial Sculptra treatment plan commonly involves 2–3 treatment sessions, approximately 8 weeks apart, with two sessions being common.

Depending on your facial structure, degree of volume loss, skin elasticity and treatment goals, 1–2 vials may be recommended at each treatment.

Your Appearance Coach nurse will assess your face and skin and discuss the most appropriate treatment plan with you before proceeding.

Results can be long-lasting, with improvement commonly maintained for up to approximately two years, although individual results and longevity vary.

Is Sculptra right for me?

Sculptra isn’t suitable for everyone.

Treatment may not be appropriate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, currently unwell, have an active infection or inflammation in the treatment area, certain autoimmune conditions, or a known allergy or hypersensitivity to any component of the product.

A comprehensive consultation and medical history with one of our Appearance Coach nurses is required before treatment to determine whether Sculptra is appropriate for you.
